Argento Music Library


The Argento Music Library ensures documentation of Argento's engagement with contemporary western art music is preserved and accessible to the new music community and researchers at large.

Collecting Policy

The Argento Music Library generally seeks materials created by musicians and personnel for and about Argento concert performances and educational outreach, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Manuscripts
  • Musical markings and marginalia
  • Biographical material
  • Teaching material
  • Audio recordings, video recordings, and photographs
  • Programs and research notes
  • Technical manuals, diagrams, and drawings
  • Publicity and press material

The Argento Music Library does not collect the following:

  • Individual income/expense receipts, personnel files
  • Scores without markings, marginalia, or other commentary

Selection criteria include relevance to the library's mission, uniqueness, research value, physical condition, legal ownership rights, digitization readiness, and the capability of the library to provide proper care.

Access Policy

The Argento Music Library is non-circulating. Review of materials are available by appointment; certain items may be available for electronic delivery.
